Volunteer at Hooves of Hope

Hooves of Hope not only provides hope and happiness to our riders, but we seek to inspire volunteers as well! Due to the generosity, care, and hard work of our volunteers we are able to change lives and provide many forms of equine-assisted activities and therapy to the individuals we serve.  Volunteers assist in therapeutic riding lessons, caring for our horses, building obstacles, and improving the barn.

Volunteer Opportunities:

Sidewalker

  • Walk alongside an adult or child rider during a therapy session

  • Contribute to the rider’s safety and fun!

  • See firsthand the benefits of therapeutic riding.

  • Experience the joy, the smiles, and be a part of the human/horse bond

Horse Leader

  • Lead a horse during a therapy session

  • You can help riders as they learn to control the horse on their own while accomplishing other day-to-day goals

  • You will be forming a relationship with “your” horse that will contribute to the success of each session

Feeder

  • Help fill feed buckets, fill water troughs, and provide hay on a daily basis

  • Spend 1-2 hours with the horses and ensure that all are happy and healthy

Groomer

  • Get each horse cleaned before lessons start

  • You’re able to work one on one with the horses and give them plenty of TLC

Facility Maintenence

  • Clean stalls, clean tack, or just clean! Hooves of Hope is completely maintained by volunteer manpower.

All volunteers are required to fill out a volunteer application and submit a background check using the link below. Please email your completed Volunteer Application to Laura.hoovesofhope@aol.com

Once the Volunteer Application and Background Check are received, our Volunteer Coordinator will work with you to decide where your talents can best be used! Those who want to assist in therapeutic riding lessons must go through a sider walker training and a leader training.
